Now that most of the talk of whether Wie should be in the US Open has died down, where do you think she'll finish? How do you think her recent defeat will effect her play?
I do not think it wil affect her at all. I am 99% sure she will make the cut and my guess is she will finish in the top 25.
I know people say she should have qualified, but the reality is she is better than than the majority of LPGA players out there, i mean how many can miss the cut at a PGA Tour events by one stroke? and at 14 years of age!!!??
When her putting is on she has the ability to compete with the best of the LPGA, what did she finish t-4 at the Kraft Nabisco?
I personally thought she was a sore loser..there's no crying in golf! Did you guys see when she broke down and cried on the shoulder of her dad? and what was up with that interview..basically pouting that "she" was supposed to win this tournament. I'm sorry darling but there are winners and then there are you. I know she's only like 14 but you can't have everything. Has she won an LPGA yet?..um no. Thank you.
Has she won yet? No. Does she have the ability? yes.
If she played a full time schedule my guess is she would have won already.
I do agree about rhe crying part though, but what can ya do i gues?
I don't want to get into a big battle of the sexes thing here, but let's not make a big deal of a 14-year-old girl crying after a disappointing loss. Women are just wired differently from men and tears come more readily in all kinds of situations--happy and sad. Let's not forget that despite her size and skill, she's still a little girl who is going to cry on her daddy's shoulder when she's feeling low.
She's probably going through what are right now the absolutely most tumultuous years for a young woman, and she's doing it in a glaring, unforgiving spotlight. Of course, none of that would excuse truly bad behavior, but it does explain some emotional outbursts. This is a girl who really wants to compete with the big "boys," so a defeat at the hands of a mere female has to be frustrating to her goals and personally embarassing.

Am I the only one who feels guilty every time they see Wie? She's 14 and looks like she's in her early 20's. I am sure she'd be interested with a middle aged man that will have been married 27 years when she turns 20! She's gonna be a knockout on and off the golf course.

The talk hasn't died down yet. As I discuss in my blog, Julie Inkster is the latest to voice disapproval of the exemption.

Juli Inkster said players in the Open should earn their way. Why are there exemptions, then? The LPGA, rightfully so, is using Michelle as a media pawn, similar to Tiger. Will more people watch the Open because Michelle is their? Most likely. Do I think she belongs? Sure. She is a great golfer but I'm afraid she will burn out if she keeps this up.
I think many of the LPGA players are worried Michell will beat them, or even win.

Amen!
I actually hope she wins...that would really irk Inkster and the girls.

Michelle's in contention right now. She's at -3 and I believe there are two players at -5. I really want to see her win. I wonder what 2nd place would think. On one hand, you came so close to winning the Open but you also get to share part (or all) of Michelle's check, right? :allmoods:
All of Michelles check haha.
I actually hope Michelle wins as well, or atleast comes in T-3. That would be great to see. She could turn pro at her age right now and be easily keeping her card.
She has played in only a few events this year and a commentater said she would be about 40th on the money list if she was a pro and got her money. If she played full time she could be higher up there too. But then again once you are playing for your own money it might get quite nerve racking, even more than now.
