Is it just me or does anybody else think that it is rediculous that Wie is permitted to play in a mens event. I mean come on lets look at the facts she has done nothing to deserve the honor of playing with the big boys. For blank sake she hasn't even won on the womens tour. sure Anika played a few mens events but that was when their was not a single women in the world that could touch her. Theres plenty of people on the womens tour that would give her a run for her money. The name wie is synomonous with Dq's Wd's and drama. She needs to just stay at stanford and give the pros a try in a few years. Every time she plays a tourney their is some kind of controversey.
Anyone can get themselves an invite to an event, if they know the right people. Wie when she started out was renound as being a big hitter, which theoretically should have meant that she out to be able to compete, especially when she was outdriving some of the shorter hitting men. However, I feel her confidence was dented early on, but instead of relying on invites to the European Ladies tour which she should have been doing, she thought it would be a shortcut to get herself onto the LPGA, by playing with the men.
She started to get a little form back when she started playing with the women on the Ladies European tour, but obviously she & her familly have jumped the gun & thought she's ready to face the big boys again, well she & especially her family are wrong, it takes more than one reasonable performance in one event. As you say, she hasn't won anything.
Personally I'd actually like to see mixed events, to see how the ladies can stand up to the men, off the same tees, but I'd want to see the best of the best off the ladies tours doing this. One or two special events in a golf season. Not simply one solitary young girl, or lady golfer who thinks she's good enough to have a go in a mens field when ever they feel like it.
The thing is she seems to think that just becase she's a celeb' she can do what she like, in the way Tiger & Phil can, the difference is Tiger & Phil know how to use & bend the rules to their advantage, without actually breaking them. She almost seems oblivious to the rules, or the rules of the tour events she's playing in.
I've said it before & I'll reiterate it again, she should finish college, & if she wants to & can play an event, play it on one of the ladies tours, if she finds she's become ineligable to play the rest of a season on the LPGA, then she should play all the further events for that season on the Ladies European Tour, a tour I believe currently she stands more of a chance of building her confidence up to actually win something & regain some credibility, as she has none right now.
Its a news maker and the PGA/LPGA is in the business of getting as much attention to their respective tours as possible. She is a big draw, just like Tiger, Phil, and John Daly. After her first round she's at +1 so she's got game beating out at least 1/3 of the field.

well miricles do happen... Go Wie..! lol
Thoughb lets see how she manages day 2 & if she blowes up or not. There is something in me that would love her to prove the rest of us she's wrong, at least once.
PGA is not a men's only league.. And media loves it which brings money just look at the galleries fallowing her.. now what happens when she gets cut on sat do they leave or follow someone else? I think shes a good player but i don't really respect how shes going about her game.. she needs to learn how to play before jumping in with the real pro;s..
She has no right.........other than the sponsor invited her to play. For me this means I DON'T watch the tournament.
I encourage you all to do the same.

I saw like 30 people in her "gallery" and all of them were probably media types fawning over her "Wieness".
I cant believe Wie is entered into another PGA Tour event, but no surprise to see that even in a low class field like this she's finished nowhere again!
To think she turned down a place in the Women's British Open this week, its just mind-boggling what a poor decision maker she is. I used to feel sorry for her cuz she was so young & misguided but you cant still just blame the parents & the agents, Wie is old enough to make these calls for herself & its just so obvious she's flogging a dead horse.
I'm amazed that sponsors still give her a place in the field, would have thought the freakshow had lost its appeal by now, its got to the stage that it demeans a tournament when Wie is in the field.

She didn't qualify for the Women's Open so she couldn't turn it down and couldn't make the bad decision.
Bummer she didn't make the cut; beat Duval by one though.
I think don't think she does anymore. She has had too many chances and couldn't make it to the weekend. Another 80 today. I don't mind seeing someone like Wie trying to compete a few times a season. Eventually, there should be a few women that can compete and consistently make the cut.
As long as sponsors keep throwing invites her way, she has every right to compete. However, I don't think it's the wisest thing for her to do for her career. Minus the stupid mistake of not signing her scorecard a few weeks ago, she was really showing signs of improvement and looked to be on the verge of her first win. Eventually, she may put it all together and be competitive.
