Question The Masters

Happy New Year! Now, let's back to golf. Specically, The Masters: 5-11 April on the PGA Tour schedule. Who do you think will win this year? Who will contend? And for a great link, check out The Official Site of the Masters Tournament. The site is still on 2009 now, but should be updated shortly. And it's one of the best sports sites anywhere. So get your picks in soon, or as we say in Florida (with apologies to Chicago): vote early, vote often.

Re: The Masters

Cheetah Woods to win.......He will be back by then and looking to take out some agression.

Take Cheetah out of the equasion and it's a playoff between Lefty and the Big Easy. Els is my boy!

Darkhorse......Yang, If you can call him a Darkhorse.

Re: The Masters

I'm going with Phil (lefty). For some reaosn his games sets up nicely at Augusta [to me anyway].

Wouldn't be suprised to see Stewart Cink in the mix come the weekend and maybe Lee Westwood.

Always have to throw Paddy in there as well. He's primed for a big season.

And of course I love Beemer (Rich Beem) so I will throw his name in there as well. When (big when) but when his game is on, he can play with the best in the world and has proved it before.

Re: The Masters

Just saw an advertisement for The Masters on ESPN. Specifically, the first two days of competition. April will be here before you know it, so gets your Masters comments posted. I wonder if Tiger will be back by then?

I'm going to wait to give my input on this topic...

I just hope Woods is back in time for the tournament.

Re: The Masters

i'd like lefty to win it. But i won't guess who will win.

But i will predict what will happen if Tiger don't win. If tiger plays and don't win the media will be talk about and say more things like "Did Tiger's leave of golf affect his play" or the media will say things like "(insert name) won the master's with Tiger still on leave".

Its nothing againest Tiger or any other golfer. Its just how the mass media is. Tom Brady in football, Crosby in hockey, King james and kobe in the NBA, Jeter and A-rod in baseball. as a fan of sports it makes me annoyied that the media is like this.

Hopefully Westwood will win the weakest of the majors.

Re: The Masters

Unfortunately it seems like Tiger Woods doesn't seem to be going to return to golf anytime soon. It's a tough prediction for me on who would win because The Masters has always had the most unpredictable winners in my opinion for the past three years.

Re: The Masters

Ogilvy always seems to play well early in the year. I would like to see him wearing the green jacket, but it's too early to tell.

Re: The Masters

I think Ogilvy just fired a warning shot over the heads of other PGA Tour players. With his play in Hawaii, his game looks to be in mid-season form already.

I think I saw where 6 of Ogilvy's 7 tour victories were in January, February and March. With the latest win, he would have 7 of 8 before April. "Mid season form" for him isn't as good as "early season form". If 2010 is like prior years he will probably play his best golf before the Masters in April.

Re: The Masters

And now some of the folks on tour say they are expecting Tiger back in time for The Masters. It'll be interesting to see what his reception is in Augusta.

Re: The Masters

That'll be a big stage for Tiger (or is it Cheetah these days) to come back to ! I think he will play before the Masters to take some heat off the subject. I agree that Ogilvy can play well at Augusta as his ball striking is extreme and he putts his best on lightning fast greens. My darkhorse at this early stage would be Charles Howell 111 , I think he has matured over the last two years and the course suits.
