Well, I think whenever you have rules, you have to keep them. Jesper obviously had an off year last year and that seriously dampened his bids at the Ryder Cup bid. While he's playing really well this year, he shouldn't be on the Ryder Cup team if he doesn't qualify. All he can do is keep playing well and make himself eligible for the next one.
i definitely agree. i think most of the problems that occur when it comes to picking ryder cup teams is the captains picks because it's subjective. if you make exceptions for players based on family issues or injuries, etc. you leave yourself subject to much more controversy. rules are rules and they are there for a reason.
Well, it would be a different scenario I guess because he would play for the United States and he plays mainly on the PGA Tour. I don't know what the minimum tournaments the U.S. team requires but if it were 11, I would imagine Tiger would have no problem meeting the minimum qualification because he wouldn't spend most of his time in the European Tour. Still, if Tiger were ranked 60th in the World, I don't think he would deserve a spot on the squad even if he were Tiger.
Does it really matter who plays for the Europeans? They always seem to give us more than we can handle! The 2004 Ryder Cup is only a few miles from me and I WILL find a way to get a ticket for Friday or Saturday's matches. Sunday is reserved for the arm chair because you just can't see everything, or keep track of all the matches, when you're on the course. I'll bet the US team will look like world beaters on paper and will still find it very difficult to win back the Cup! Any takers?
