He has those awful commercials touting whatever club he uses, is one of the featured pros in one of the golf magazines, but I frequently check out pgatour.com and usually he misses the cut by a lot (this week was no execption) and he's hasn't won anything on tour that I know of. He's 84th on the $$ list, is very average in distance and near the bottom of driving accuracy and GIR. Most guys in this category don't get any pub and no big time endorsements. Maybe he's a great guy and certainly mean him no ill, but it seems this guy is all fluff and no substance. It's like he's fallen of a cliff like David Duvall, execpt he hasn't climbed the cliff as high as DD.
And yes, I'm posting a lot tonite - don't let anyone fool you - there's nothing automatic about an automatic irrigation system for a golf course. I'm babysitting mine tonite for what seems to be the 1,000th time this year and have another 30 min b4 I can leave - it's midnite and I have to be back here at 6:00 a.m. I'm going and getting
I don't understand it, either. As far as I know, the only tournament he did well last year was really the Sony Open where he made the playoff. Then he dropped off later in the year. This year, I haven't heard of him at all. Except on Macgregor commercials, I guess. Maybe Macgregor is trying to go the Coors Light (you know... use our product, get lots of girls, have lots of fun) route and a Fred Funk coming in a convertible with a bunch of girls to the rescue isn't so believable.
It is Macgregor, he is one of there what 3 sponsored players on tour (Janzen, Olabalz and Baddely) And go with the ex major winners or one of the players coming up. He was supposed to be one of the next young guns coming up with Rose, Howell III etc but hasnb't played well.
Look at Callaway they use Charles Howell and Rich Beem and Rocco Mediate, what have these guys done latley? (beemer won the PGA 2 years ago, but thats it and Howel is just like Baddely)
greenguy, if i am not mistaken Baddely is up there in putting statistics though....
It is one commercial, a very terrible one, doesn't mean he is way over rated.
No no one else in the money list is big in commercials, but he is porbably Macgregors main guy and the rest are sponsored by titleist and TM etc and do not get featured in a commercial.
He probably doesn't get that much from them though...

Sure, I know other guys (like the ones you mentioned) have commercials even tho they haven't done a lot on the tour lately, but Baddeley's ad seems to be run more than any other. Maybe it's because I hate the ad more than anything - it's almost as bad as the Verizon Wireless one with that annoying 'can you hear me now' guy. I have to turn the channel when that one comes on. I told the wife to never get Verizon's services because of that ad - it was too late, she had already signed up.
With the Aaron's ad I just mute it - a least the young women in the ad are nice to look at!

It is a very terrible ad that is for sure, but Macgregors products are thankfully alot better than their commercials.(IMO anyways.)
Those ads just annoy me (especially the V-Foil irons ad) when the guy has a horrible, HORRIBLE swing, no wonder he can't get the ball in the air, and once he has the V-Foils in his hand, suddenly he can swing like Tiger! I swear, the swing he has AFTER the V-Foils is perfect, flawless, and everything! Yeah, that's right MacGregor, your irons did that. They have the magic ability to improve someone's swing that drastically. I'm embarassed for Baddely AND the exec's at MacGregor.
Follow the $$$ . . . I suspect that BADd will accept a lot fewer $$$ than a top player will. Also, most of the better players are already committed to other OEMs.
Worse commercials I have EVER seen. I dislike Badds now because of his commercials. He and Adam Scott both from Australia were to be the next (fill in your favorite golfers). We saw it with Adam at the TPC, but Badds has not been so fortunate, maybe cause the bad karma from the commercial.
Garcia, Scott, Rose, Howell, Badds, Donald and probably a few others I forgot are suppose to be the next "generation."
Poor "Badds"! He is a victim of the young "I'm invincible" syndrome. He won two Aussie opens and decided he was ready to take on the world. He headed straight to the US tour saying, "I am not here to compete, I am here to win". He was cautioned by some of the older hands but scoffed at their 'negative thinking'..he believed his own BS, and look where he is now?
Scott who was a mate of Baddley's and at a similar standard, decided to do an apprenticeship in the European tour and build up some credits. And look where he is now. He has had some up and down rounds but has lived up to some of his early promise. It remains to be seen if he is the next Tiger, but I wonder if AB can ever get back to where he thought he was going. If he changed his outfits he might do better.

Scott received some valuable advise from Norman and that seemed to prove the difference between him and Baggs. Sounds like Adam still regularly speaks with Greg, which could never be a bad thing. Greg being my favorite for many years has really inspired the Australians and I look forward to seeing many more.
