Interesting PGA Pairing

Tiger, John Daly, and Vijay Singh will play together Thursday and Friday at Whistling Straits in the PGA.

Do you think that this pairing will be helpful to these three participants or harmful to their chances to win the final major of the 2004 season?

Wow! Normally event organizers try to spread the 'marquise' names around a little for crowd control. I would think it would hurt all three cause 95% of the gallery will want to follow that group. That could easily get out of control. Remember Jack and Watson during the final round of the '77 British Open actually stopped playing till the crowd was controlled. I would have thought putting Tiger with someone like a Cink, Daly with a Verplank and VJ with a Funk. Spread the crowd favorites out and mix up the long hitters and others that aren't as long - there's no such as a short hitter on tour-there's long and not quite so long! This was done probably because they wanted to put past PGA champions with each other, and might even be a slight recreation of the Buick 2 weeks ago (sometime officials do this - recreate a recent battle), but wow....I really think that it might cost someone in that group a stroke or two because of all the commotion going on.

I can't imagine what the gallery will be like for that group either. Individually, Tiger and Big John attract the biggest followings. Put those two together and you probably have a third of the people attending the tournament all in one place. I'm glad I'm not a marshall this week!

Even with all the comotion this will cause, and the bigger than nrormal following, crows, you gotta belive this will make for some great TV coverage for us fans watching from home.

Besides, what's the worse Steve Williams could do to a photographer that he hasnt already done.

That pairing will help Daly, IMO. He could not ask for a better pairing and as such a better shot at making the Ryder Cup.

I thought it was those that are long and those who hit it distance you never thought possible. Should be a great group, though. Are the tee times up yet? I wonder which day they'll be playing in the afternoon on.

Thanks. There's no reason why I couldn't check it myself. Just plain laziness, I guess.

I think all the players in that group will do well, there will be huge galleries following those guys. I think Daly will make the Ryder Cup this year.
