I'll bet Teddy Turner is a little surprised at some of Tiger's language that made it on air during Friday's round.... GDs were flying around nicely.

3 hours till the leaders tee off. My take: Looks like it's Vijay's to lose. Good ball-striking, adequate putting, and he's 7-0 when he's been in 1st place after 54 holes. I hope Justin makes a game of it, but I'm worried about what he did in this Championship 2 years ago (leader after 3 rounds; shot 77 on Sunday). The chasers (Phil, Ernie, Clarke, Riley, Ames) will need both Vijay and Justin to back up. However, at least 1 of them is sure to make a run, so who knows. Should be fun!

"Whimpering" Straits?

What happened to the "monster" this course was supposed to be? I know there's no wind but unless conditions are very different today, or there's a major collapse by the leaders, the winner will be 15-18 under par. Ho Hum, just another Tour stop score. It's obvious that length isn't that big of a factor to the pros anymore. (Justin Leonard and 7400 yards?) I'm curious to know the field's greens in regulation stats and how they compare to the other 3 Majors this year. I have to chuckle when the announcers keep reminding us there's over 1000 bunkers. Only a handful are in play for these guys and I've seen very very few green side bunker shots in the 3 days I've watched. This course would probably be the most visually intimidating and difficult course any of us will ever play, but in my opinion the degree of difficulty for the pros has been greatly over-hyped.

I don't look for anyone more than 4 strokes back to be a factor today. The way VJ Singh is striking the ball, unless his putter deserts him, he'll be a two time Wannamaker Trophy winner. I'm still pulling for Ernie & Phil though!

The pin locations and tee boxs have been very easy so far. But look where they put the pins today. http://www.jsonline.com/golfplus/pga04/aug04/251415.asp There just about all as far back as possible. Look at the par 3 12th, that should be one of the toughest pin locations in history, many balls could find there way into lake michigan if players take a chance at the pin and go left instead. Should be an exciting day.

Man, what a nailbiter. I wanted Justin, but at least we have a new Player of the Year.
