What do you think of these two picks? Wonder if Verplank's ankle and foot problems kept him off the team. In a way, I'm glad Jay made the team, but not sure about Cink. I'm a little prejudice because I wanted Verplank on the team. No matter who got picked, Sutton couldn't have pleased everyone.
You may be right about Verplank's weekend injury being a factor. Haas is a proven veteran who has played extremely well for 2 years now. Cink's selection may not have been a fan favorite but if you look at the PGA Tour stats you'll see he's the leading putter on tour. Sutton is quoted as saying the Oakland Hills is not the "Monster" it once was.....but the very undulating greens are still where the Ryder Cup will be won or lost.

Reason: fact correction
Cink has been under the radar of most golf fans but a quick review of PGA Tour stats has shown me why Sutton chose him. Hal Sutton is very serious about the American team reclaiming the Ryder Cup and he wouldn't risk his reputation on a "dumb joke." I've got to believe that Captain Sutton is a better judge of how to create a winning TEAM than you or I.

Sutton seems to me to be someone who analyzed every facet of each player he thought would help the team. I am sure you could make an argument for about a dozen other players and he could come back with info on why they didn't make the cut. I am curious if there were players in the top 10 that wouldn't have made it if it was 100% up to him. I like both picks and am looking forward to the Ryder Cup.
