This is a remark contributed to Chris Dimarco after his play-off loss at the PGA Championship.

After hitting his 6-iron onto the green at No. 18, "I looked at my caddie and said, 'That's good enough, for sure,"' DiMarco said. "I'm proud of myself that I went out and did it."

I wonder.....Had he focused more on the ensuing birdie putt (instead of prematurely congratulating himself for making the Ryder Cup team) would he have made the putt that would have won him the PGA Championship? I don't recall ever hearing or reading anything that remotely hinted that any other player was ever thinking about anything else, on the 18th hole of a Major championship, other than winning the Major at hand.
That was a mouthful!

The Ryder Cup is a great event but no player in the world would trade making the team over winning a Major Championship....or would they? I'm not so sure in this case. What do you think?

DiMarco must have felt very strongly about making the Ryder Cup team, but it still is very confusing!

maybe he didnt know he had a chance at winning the major if he made birdie?

also, maybe he didnt want to give the birdie putt a run, put it 4 feet past then miss the one coming back, not win the PGA, and not make the ryder cup team?

any time i say that to myself on the course, i nearly always end up leaving the thing short!

The way I've heard Dimarco talk this year, I think he wants to be on the RC team more. He's seems like a good guy and maybe after he has more confidence in himself, he'll make the putt needed to win a major. He finished tied for 2nd - sometimes it takes a few close calls b4 you win one. And I sure wish I could be in a position to leave a birdie putt short and still win big time $$$,$$$.

DeMarco felt slighted by Curtis last time for the Ryder Cup and then after his CHOKE job last week at the International everyone wrote him off (me included). He heard (or didn't hear I guess) everyone talking about who would make the points and/or get picked for the RC. He was never mentioned, which I think fueled his fire. I'm not a big fan of him, but hopefully he proves me wrong again and performs during the RC.
