I mean, he's been playing "lights out" golf and, now, people are giving him victories. Mike had this one seemingly in the bag on several different occasions. Too bad he couldn't hold on to it. I was rooting for Mikey.
And Vijay? He now has nine top-three finishes. That's pretty high-powered stuff. It's a rare season when someone goes double-digits in top three's. The last man to do it was Phil, in 2001; Tiger did it in both 1999 and 2000. You then have to go back to Paul Azinger, in 1993, for the previous example.
Maybe he tripped over all the oversized winner's checks and tourney trophies he has laying around his house lately. Or maybe all that money he has in his pockets now is weighing him down and causing pressure on his knees. No I didn't hear it Donna.
Yesterday, they mentioned several times that he was favoring his left knee and that at one point, he pulled up his pantsleg to massage it. Then, today, they said that during the Ryder Cup he was going to have it "attended to".
I "think" someone said something about fluid in the knee - maybe from carrying around all that money, as you said.
Seriously, though, although I'm NOT a Vijay fan, it would be a shame if he had to go thru what Tiger did, with the resultant effect on his game when he is on such a roll.
It seems like Vijay cannot lose now. Make it #7 on the year with his victory over Mike Weir in a playoff at the Canadian Open. Ten this year anyone?
Weir handed the tournament to him....Weir is my favorite player, but the way he putted today was horendous. He might as well have said here you go.
I know he did his best, i would have gone nuts if he won, but that made me mad at all the chances he *. Time for a putter change i think...

I bet Mike Weir feels horrible tonight. He had several very makeable putts to win his country's Open and didn't get the job done. He can add those missed putts to the list of Master's putts he made, as putts he will never forget! Its one thing to lose....but its tougher to lose the way he did. You never forget something like that, no matter what they say.
this was probably the first golf game i've ever watched beginning to end. was fun to watch now that i'm getting into the sport! I couldn't believe some of the shot Weir missed but I know it sure isn't easy! Can't wait for the next one!!!

If you ask me, Vijay is doing exactly what Tiger did not so long ago..... he is playing solid golf and not making silly mess ups..... I dont really think he would claim to be playing spectacularly well, but he just seems to have the management and mental side totally there.
VJ said Mike Weir was the last person he wanted to beat this week although he added that's the way things go after. If I were in his position, I would feel the same way. Definitely a tough loss for Mike Weir. Everything was set up for him. 100th Canadian Open. 50 years since the last Canadian winner. He was pretty much the leader all day and had his chance even on the playoff. It's too bad things had to play out the way they did but congratulations to Vijay. He surely is on a run right now and showed he is well deserving of that World #1 ranking.
As tough as it was to watch on TV for us Canadians, we are still TOTALLY behind Mike and any toher canuck golfer. What he did this week was IMO unbelievable. To be leading all the way and to loose as he did was too bad for sure, but Mike, you did us proud. My hats off to ya!
mike wier pulled a greg norman this week and i doubnt he will ever recover from letting his country down like he did. vijay begged mike to win it and he still couldn't.
