US Teams trail early

The Woods-Mickelson duo is having to keep pace with Monty and Padraig Harrington who've birdied the first four holes but haven't and they are 2 DN thru 4. Two other matches have one-up leads for Europe while the McGinley-Donald vs Riley-Cink match is all square. A lot of golf to go yet though.

What is with USA network's playing that Irish leprechaun music at every commercial break? I don't expect them to play "God Bless America," but couldn't they play something more American sounding?

Europe's putting so far has been amazing, especially Montgomerie's. So far, suprisingly, Tiger has been carrying Phil, johnny.

Yeah you are right valeogut, Tiger has been playing pretty well so far and Phil is finally starting to get into the match with a good shot there on #7. Maybe the US squad can start dropping some of those long putts like the Euros have so far. Geez, they haven't missed yet it seems, especially Monty. Chad Campbell has hit the ball very well for the most part but can't seem to buy a putt, he has had the last putt on several holes and missed them all. Now Europe leads in all matches, Paddy drained another long one too to put Monty and him 2 up again. Could be a long day.

Son...of...a.....! I just saw that Harrington putt! What is going on??!! I don't know how much more of this I can watch. It's like the golf gods are giving every putt ot the Euros.

johnny, all you're missing right now is the opportunity to scream at your TV!!!!

Yeah, it seems like that is the case for sure. They might as well concede every putt to that team cause they are gonna make em anyway. With both Euros in the sand on 9, and Tiger on the green, maybe they can get one back. The golf in that match has been very good though. 6 birdies for the Euros and 4 for the Americans in the first 8 holes. Impressive.

Looks like typical Ryder Cup, the United States digging a deep hole on Friday/Saturday and then attempt to dig out of it on Sunday. We really should try a new strategy as this one hasn't worked very well for us. Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it...lol.

this from Webster's dictionary:

buttkickin'---n. what the Americans received the first morning of the 2004 Ryder Cup. Ex: The Europeans putt a buttkickin' on the Americans.

Go USA, but then again, I picked the Euros in our pick'em contest, so I'm torn.......

I noticed that too! Hopefully he is just ashamed and not suffering under the weather.

I wont say too much on the game as it is early days, but it will be tight and I reckon be right to the wire

I can't see anything but a European win in the afternoon as well. The matches are:

1. Jimenez and Levet vs. Haas and DiMarco

2. Harrington and Monty vs. Funk and Love III

3. Clarke and Westwood vs. Tiger and Mickelson

4. Garcia and Donald vs. Perry and Cink

I think Europe will win the first three matches, and the fourth one should be close, perhaps a win for USA.
