Who should sit on the US team in the afternoon??

Well, Hal said that the four guys who didn't play this morning will play this afternoon, so based on what has happened so far, who do you think should be sitting this afternoon? My choices so far would be Chad Campbell, Chris Riley, David Toms, and Davis Love III. Davis would fit in an alternate shot well but he doesn't seem to be hitting it well right now, so I'd sit him.

I change my mind. They should bench them all. This team, for all the good putters on it, is putting so terribly it isn't funny. They couldn't putt into a coffee can if it was to win a hole. Clarke and Jimenez just clinched the first point, winning against Love and Campbell, 5&4. Now Monty and Paddy are dormie on Tiger and Phil. This looks really bad for the US.

Relax, don't panic....the Euro's always start well and they won't putt like that all weekend. It takes 14 1/2 points to win and they're a long way from that. Let's see what happens in the afternoon matches before we tally the score.

On 16, Phil has a 15 footer for birdie, Tiger is 40 feet away, Harrington is about 15-20 feet and Monty is about 10 feet. Looks to be another Euro point, the Mickelson-Tiger pairing probably is going to be history.

I won't be around to see the afternoon matches so I have to go on what I see right now. I guess I get to think about how bad the US is going to trail at the end of the day. On a side note, Phil made a nice putt to possibly extend the match. It's about time!! But of course Monty still has a putt to win it.

Phil had played a nice little three quarter shot and Tiger hit the full hard shot, trying to land it long and spin it back. It landed short and spun back almost off the green. Although the match is now extended to #17. Tiger is short right in the sand, Phil long left in the rough, Monty about 30 feet away on the green, and Paddy is short in the rough. Gonna need some magic or some poor putting by the Euros to slip outta this one.

It's over, Monty and Harrington close out Woods and Mickelson, 2&1.

Oh man, I can't believe it. These Euro's are amazing. We Yank-backers have to hang in there. Lotsa golf left (he said, hopefully).

"Lotsa golf left," he said, not "hole"-ly assured. ....green with envy. ...teed off.

Do we really need to "tally the score" just yet?
