Hal Sutton huh?

Is it just me, or does Hal Sutton look really bad and uncomforatble after this first day? I'm watching the interview with him and it doesn't seem like he is going to be able to convey any confidence or be able to give his team the encouragement they are going to need.

I saw him talking trash about Montegomery's great chip on some hole, and in an after a match interview with that Jim Gray guy, I think it was Jim Gray, the interviewer asked Hal what he is going to say to his team to help them with today's blow, and Hal goes into some speach about the actually things the team did wrong, and what needs to be corrected on the physical side, not the metal side, which was the intent of the question.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is going to be the last time Hal will be the captain.

The PGA of America rarely selects anyone to be captain for more that one Ryder Cup. Since the Ryder Cup expanded to include all of Europe in 1979 only two men have been US Captains more than once. Jack Nicklaus in 1979 and 1987 and Tom Kite in 1995 and 1997.

The way his team is playing, I doubt Hal would answer the phone if the PGA of America called him anyway!

I loved Hal's comments when asked if Phil's not practicing at Oakland Hills hurt him (Phil). Sutton replied curtly* "The only one that has the answer to that is Phil. I don't have to worry about it, 'cuz he'll be cheering in the morning....he ain't playin'!" That's a great line. Phil's lucky Hal didn't stick that new Callaway 3 wood up his......

It's too bad ol' Hal can't suit up...grab his clubs...and go show his boys how to kick some Euro tail! He's done it before and you know he wants to do it again real bad!

Hal may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but he's perfect for the butt chewing his guys so richly deserved yesterday.
