We Euros are in a very strong position now.... I would have predicted maybe a 2 or 3 point lead going into the singles which would have made it very tight indeed, but with 6 in the bag, the US team really do have to take every opportunity they get tomorrow

The US team is an embarrassment. Riley breaking up the pairing with Tiger that worked so well in the morning was foolish and inexplicable. This US team is not good enough to overcome the deficit they will need to tomorrow. That team was brimming with talent and had a gigantic experience advantage over the Euros as well. This team is not nearly as talented and many of them are rookies. Guess I won't be watching the matches afterall tomorrow. No lineup strategy in the world could net the US team 9.5 points in the singles. In fact, I'd bet that the Euros win more points tomorrow than the US team. Kiss the Ryder Cup goodbye, the US team won't be seeing it for at least two more years

"Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?" Our chances are about as dead as John Belushi and I don't think any speech is going to help.

I support my team, win or lose, but I'm making a tee time for tomorrow. The last 5 matches will be for pride, because it'll be over by then.

I'll save my closing comments until after tomorrow's finish. In the mean time.....does anyone have a recipe for "crow?" I heard it tastes like chicken! I sure hope so 'cuz I'll be eating a big ol' plate of it tomorrow!

Yep, I can't see anything preventing Europe taking the trophy home tomorrow. 11-5 is too wide a margin to overcome. I just hope Europe blow them away tomorrow as well and prove once and for all that we're no underdogs.

At least I had college football to watch this afternoon. This is my official throwing in of the towel.

Same here. Gonna be a long day tomorrow for the US supporters. Or short one to be more exact. An NBC executive's worst nightmare. The Euro team cannot be considered the underdogs anymore. They are the better team talent-wise and execution-wise and will earn a well-deserved victory tomorrow.

I dont know what kind of coverage everyone got... but did anyone else hear the announcers joking to include Canada and let Weir play .. "then the US might have had a chance to win it". HAHAHAH classic .. good to see Mike getting some recognition!

Why not? We need some new blood that might be excited and willing to play. How about the Old World versus the New World then? It would still be mostly US players but it wouldn't be a slap in the face of America every time the team shows up uninspired and playing poorly. Although really only Mike Weir would be a candidate for addition to the squad, or maybe Carlos Franco if you included South America.

IMO..Just because the United States has fared poorly the last few years is no reason to change the format. Weir, Franco, and many other fine players, currently not eligible for Ryder Cup teams, have the International President's Cup team to play for. The Ryder Cup competition is fine as it is. It's the US team that's sick!

Maybe if enough of these current players get embarrassed often enough they'll do what it takes to change the outcome. I hope that our future American Ryder Cuppers (whoever they may be) are watching and will learn from this humiliating experience.

Or maybe if they get embarrassed enough they will just stop showing up. I'd bet on that happening first.

They really couldn't just stop showing up. We Americans have this thing about patriotism and playing for your country. Players that refused would be scorned enough to lose their fan base, and even worse.....their sponsor money!

I think it will be closer than most ppl think, but the euro`s will not let what happened in 99 happen again. The problem with the US team is they seem to want to win it too much, they`re hyped up by the press and fans and become almost god like and untouchable. If they relaxed a bit and tried to enjoy it they`d probably do better. Us euro`s on the other hand are always written off b4 a ball is hit, we`re underdogs all the way and should`nt bother really turning up. USA looked like they were turning the tide in the morning but great credit to our lads, especially Howell and Casey for sticking around and getting a point.

We are in pole position, not just in points but mentally and physically. We`re playing well, all 12 could pick up points and i believe the good unity of the group and the level headedness of Langer will secure a well fought and well earned win.

USA will not lie down, they dont seem to have bonded like the euros but the team should close the gap but i think 6 pts is just too much, but this is golf and who knows, not me thats for sure.

the USA really do have their work cut out for them in the singles, but it is well possible for them to come back and win the cup. The Europeans need to really knuckle down and try to win all their matches, and not have the killer attitude of "sure we only need to win a few matches." But i believe the Europeans have it in them!

COME ON EUROPE!!
