Langer is a great guy - the whole European team displayed great sportsmanship and had a heckofa lot fun playing (and partying - even the postgame party was all done in a way that I certainly had absolutely no problem with). The way that team diffused our crowd in the practice rounds reflects what Langer said b4 the Ryder Cup -"we'll kill them with kindness" and it worked. All the contestants to a man complimented our fans, which I am glad since I live here in MI. But the crowd never could be rude to these guys because of the way they conducted themselves the entire week.

I couldn't help but feel pretty good about them when they celebrated - I always enjoy seeing people having a good time without going over the top. Maybe our players will see that opening up to the fans when it's appropriate on the course is a way to also play to their potential, instead of being so distant. Golf is a whole lot more enjoyable when you're not uptight and having some good, clean fun. Props to Langer and the European team.

I also didn't really mind watching the celebration at the end. Maybe it was because I was already resigned to the fact that the U.S. was going to lose but it was fun to see all of that excitement on the golf course.

Another thing you have to give credit to Langer for is making Monty one of his Captain's pick. Sure, he has a great Ryder Cup record but he was so far down on the rankings, I still think it was pretty gutsy. Europe could have still very well won without him but he definitely contributed a lot to the winning effort.

The only person on the European Team that could have caused a stink was Sergio. I think if Phil would have blown him out, Sergio would have got in it with some of the more vocal fans.

Colin Montgomerie showed that maybe he is maturing a bit with crowd control.

I was watching the post game interviews and both Tiger and Davis Love III said they were told by the PGA of America not to sign autographs during practice rounds. Davis actually said "We can't help it if they (the Euros) did what they were told not to do. We signed autographs for 1/2 an hour after practice." That strategy made them a lot of friends didn't it! Sure sounded like whining to me.
