Colin Montgomery, hands down. His record coming in was outstanding and he only added to his Ryder Cup legacy. Every player on the European team said Monty was their leader, on and off the course. As Colin went, the others followed. He set the standard in the very first match and never looked back. There are several names that come to mind, but I bet if you asked the Euro team to vote....it would be unanimous for one of, if not the best, Ryder Cup player in history....Colin Montgomerie.
I think Lee Westwood played the best golf, but Monty also played great golf and was the leader of the team, he inspired the rest. He was amazing in the first match vs. Tiger and Phil which started the ball rolling. If USA had won that match, I think it would have been a lot closer.
Pretty much the whole team could be considered. But I'd have to go with Sergio. He went 4-0-1 and his comeback against Phil today pretty much crushed the hopes of a US rally. But Lee Westwood and Monty would be fine choices.
As for the US side, the LUP (least unvaluable player-if that makes any sense, haha) would be Chris Dimarco. He won the most points for the US team and played his heart out doing it. Just looking at the interview after his match, you could see the tears in his eyes and how much he wanted to win for the US. If Hal had 12 Chris Dimarcos at his disposal this week the outcome could have been quite different, certainly much closer at the very least.

Monty for me..... he is the soul of the team and the rest of the guys look up to him. Of course you cant prove it, but him playing well surely has to have given the rest of the team an enormous feeling of confidence
Monty. A European legend underappreciated on this side of the pond.

Agreed about the appreciation, though he got some incredible support yesterday, I doubt he has ever had an american crowd chanting his name in support before
Hats off to the European team. They played aggressive, looked like they were having fun, and made almost every clutch shot they needed to make.
Monty, Darren Clarke, Sergio, Lee Westwood, all proved to be too much for the US. Every putt they needed to make seemed to hit the back of the cup. On the US side, it seemed every putt they needed to make weakly trickled off to the side.
