I don't think guys are out there for the purpose of being popular. Sure, popularity can lead to endorsements, but most of the guys probably believe (and rightly so) that if they win enough events or at least the right ones, then that popularity will come anyway. Vijay has just made some mistakes in the public eye which people will never forget nor forgive him for. It's just the way people are. They will hold onto a little thing that someone said once, whether it's true or not, and hold it against them forever.

True, but popularity leads to acceptance, which leads to less pressure. It would be good for Vijay and his game to be forgiven because he was sorry.

HAHAHA, I was thinking of the exact same tournament and circumstances when putting Fuzzy on this list popped in my head. What a loudmouth!

Definetely VJ is my least favorite guy on the tour. I respect his golf game, but his attitude stinks and he has said some very sexist and rude things.

Sergio is one that has been mentioned as well. At The Heritage, the last two years, Sergio has followed behind his amateurs by about 40 yards talking to his caddy/coach and on his cell phone rather than hosting his amateur team as the rest of the professionals do.

Well, I've never cared for Sergio. I think he acts like a stuck up pig at times.

Yeah, but you can't judge a guy by his looks. I know he looks a bit like a freak with those huge glasses, but still. This is more about personality. Nevertheless, you have a good point.

[accent]He is Sergio from Spain though![/your best spanish accent]

I like Sergio myself. Sure he's a little cocky, but I don't think he over does it. Nor do I think it makes him hateable. That dude on The Big Break II though, Don, fugettaboutit.

I used to think so too ( Sorenstam too ) when I was only watching TV.
Basically I think there are 4 categories of pros ( in one set of definition ).
1. Kiss Up - Nice to whomever can give them somethin including while they're on TV - DL III, Paul Azinger, etc..
2. Kiss Down - only nice to people who doesn't count ( and nasty to TV or PGA officials ) - VJ, etc..
3. Nice all around no matter what - Ben Creshaw, John Daly ( when not sick ) etc..
4. Leave me the **** alone loner - Greg Norman, Jeff Sluman, Tiger etc..

But many of them change as they age and succeed/fail so depends on when you catch them... If you catch them while they're running to a toilet, noone's gonna be nice to you..

You must not follow the Champions Tour much. Tom Kite had eye surgery a 2 or3 years ago and hasn't worn glasses since. My wife once said that with his glasses on, Kite looked like an "ugly woman." Now without his glasses, she' says he looks like "the Creature From the Black Lagoon." Whenever I see him I just can't get that image out of my head.

Oh yeah...

As a young punk a friend I and were sneaking around on the grounds of Riviera during the L.A. Open. We saw the fitness truck went to the window and inside we saw... Tim Kite getting changed! Tighty whities Kite! Now picture that!
