2005 Season predictions

I already can't wait for the Mercedes Championship to roll around. Will Vijay just continue hitting good golf shots? Will Tiger be back hungry for winning? Will Phil rededicate himself to winning or get fatter? Will Ernie Els make that shift into one higher gear to get to #1?

Why not the Tour Championship? It'll be interesting to see how Tiger goes. They've gone at each other twice since the PGA: Tiger mopped up Vijay (and Ernie) at Firestone (Cink won) even though he missed fairways by 120 yards, and then Vijay squeaked by for a W a few weeks later.

How do you like those last two pairings, for the first round, at East Lake? Tiger and Ernie, followed by Vijay and Phil.

I was checking up on the last time the Tour Championship was played at East Lake, and Phil won with Tiger second, Ernie, Vijay and Nick Price tied for third and David Duval just behind them. Think ABC would be happy with a leaderboard of that quality come Sunday?

As for next year, I can't see Vijay slowing down a ton, but can't see him winning 9 times again either. Probably 4 or so. Ernie and Phil are in their primes now, so I'd expect them to play well too. One would have to expect Tiger to come back strong next year. Unless he has lost all dedication to the game, that talent didn't just go away. Goosen also bears watching, he has kinda been an outsider in most discussions but has proven to be one of the best players in the world. It'll be good regardless though.

Phil Mickelson has a "prime?" Is it just above "average" and right below "halfway decent"? :-P

That was 2000, Stl. The last time East Lake hosted the TOUR Championship was 2002. Vijay won.

Huh, you're right droogy.

I was under the impression that it hadn't been there since 2000. Oh well, my bad.
