NO, not really.

Great round by the Goose. Tiger is still somewhat overrated. Got to put the number up on Sunday and Goosen did just that. Too much spin by Woods. Just relax dude and it will not spin so much. Soft hands and a slow swing are where it is at. Bobby Jones rules at Eastlake; Still!!!

"Somewhat overrated?" Could you explain that one for me?

I wouldn't say TW is overrated at the least. He has been ranked #1 for what? 7 years?

Overrated would be someone like Ricky Barnes. Tiger has PROVEN that his name belongs in a list of contenders EVERY time he tees it up. With what he accomplished this year with a swing in the state his is in tells the story of just how good he is (although I don't think I would have tinkered with my swing when I was winning almost every week).

No I think that Tiger is overrated when he had one win and Singh had 7 and he was still ranked #2.

The World Golf Rankings aren't based on one year's performance. Tiger had "banked" enough ranking points to maintain his #1 position long after VJ started his streak. If the rankings were over a one year period, VJ would've been #1 sooner.

What I found interesting was when he was going through his first set of swing changes (in 98' I think), he only won once that year. The follow years he averaged 7 wins per year from 98 to now. Now that he is going through another swing adjustment, one win this season. . . perhaps history will repeat itself in 05? And as such in following years? :)

I'm no great Tiger fan, but overrated he is not. The man has proven that he can contend any week on any course.

I credit whatever success he's had this year to his incredible scrambling ability. I wonder if there's ever been any other golfer who could scramble and "invent" shots the way he does?

Good one petermo - maybe Seve, especially in his prime.

Seve also had trouble keeping his driver in the fairway. But I'd still give the edge to Tiger especially when you compare records.

That would have been a great Golf Channel event - Recovery Specialists. Give both of them the same lousy lies, terrible positions, etc., and see who scrambles the best. I'd probably watch it.

Why would he have to - he had 14 clubs in his bag and I'm sure one of them would have gone 203 yards! Look up the old Masters videos - he was all over the place and still won.

Anyway, he was of a different era, but boy was he exciting to watch.

Because he had to get over trees. Good luck doing that with your 4I.

Really. I can see it now. Not to mention you couldn't even get through the rough. No, there is no contest between Seve and Tiger. I have seen some replays of Seve, and there is just nothing to compare. Tiger is far more powerful. Plus, different playing styles.

How about this for a quote:

"The handsome young man from Pedrena in Northern Spain was the only player under par in difficult conditions at Royal Lytham & St.Annes and his one under total was sufficient to give him victory by three strokes from Jack Nicklaus and Ben Crenshaw. Seve's wayward driving was more than made up for with his quite brilliant recovery shots as he saved par time and time again, even making birdie at the 16th after he had driven into a car park!"

2 Masters, 3 Open Championships

Maybe you can go round a tree also!
