Golf Rewind Awards 2004-PGA Tour Player of the Year

This may really be a no-brainer, but being a democratic forum, we're having a vote anyway. Who do you think is most deserving of the prestigious Golf Rewind Award for PGA Tour Player of the Year?

Vijay. If you shoot a 76 in th 4th round of a major and still pull it off, you deserve it.

How does shooting a 76 in the final round of a major show how good of a year he had? All it shows is that nobody around the lead could seal the deal and then he inally made a birdie in the playoff.

IMO he didn't deserve that PGA Championship, but the other guys couldn't seal the deal and he ended up with the title.
But i do agree, Vijay was hands down the player of the year. I don't care how much you hate him, if you don't vote for him you shouldn't be voting at all IMO. I don't like him that much, but there is no doubt in my mind he is far and away the player of the year.

Junior, it shows that he played some amazing golf over the first three days to get that far ahead of the field, and he showed some amazing guts to get himself together and make a birdie to win the playoff

I can't really say that the PGA was the measuring stick of how good his year was, but rather the stretch of golf that it occurred in. He had a stretch of events from the Buick Open til the end of the year in which his finishes were: 1, 1 (playoff), T32, 1, 1 (playoff), 1, T2, 1, 9. That's not too shabby.

Yeah, I remember how everyone was talking about his top ten streak that the begining of the year but then it was all about his finish to the season. Like 6 top tens in a row, with 4 wins. Thats just amazing.

Regardless of what any player shoots in the final round, the player holding the trophy at the end of the day "sealed the deal" in my book. Woulda, coulda, shoulda, is for losers. If you won...you sealed the deal! In 2004 there was VJ....then there was everyone else:nodsmiley

Agree VJ sealed the deal he was the last man standing and a well deserved honor for all the hard work he puts in.

Vijay is the clear cut winner though it would be better if he won more of the higher profile tourneys instead of a lot of his wins coming in weak fields. Still dominated, no doubt, but he still isn't the best golfer no matter what the ranking says.
