Some statistics from the possibilities mentioned (I included majors and WGCs in the stats as they are considered in the Order of Merit):

Ernie Els-3 wins, #1 on Order of Merit, #1 in scoring average.

Retief Goosen-2 wins, 1 major (US Open), #2 on Order of Merit, #3 in scoring average.

Miguel Angel Jimenez-4 wins, #4 on Order of Merit, #7 in scoring average.

Padraig Harrington-2 wins, #3 on Order of Merit.

Els on stats, but Jimenez is one of my faves.

I'm going to have to go with Retief Goosen, yes, Ernie had more wins, and a better stroke average, but that US Open at Shinnecock Hills does it for me, he showed some great play to win that.

Miguel Angel Jimenez, becuase he has more wins than anyone else on that list and he has the Ryder Cup and he was winning after the terrorist attacks in Spain, which I though was pretty cool.
