At the moment, the pga tour is a very exciting tour to watch ( I can`t remember it being more so) . But with a near five-fold increase in international players in less than 25 years, where will the tour be in 25 years time if this trend continues(or even accelerates). I have my reservations about aspects of this viewpoint, in that many young American golfers are more skilled, diet conscious, fitter, more dedicated, harder working but will be vying for fewer places on the pga tour in the future.
I wouldn`t be surprised if in 25 years time the pga tour introduces a quota system for international players if this trend continues(probably think c-b-c is/gone ) but quite honestly, it`s important for the tour to have as many American young guns coming through as possible. Even if it means bending the current rules a little (by giving them an assured number of pga places)...although I suspect I may be alone on this post

Im a bit concerned about our best young players heading over to the US
and abandoning our tour. I hope they still come over to play in the big events.
If we didn't have players that were loyal (Montgomerie etc) the european tour
would be nowhere near the quality it is now.

I know what you mean Kosy, although at the same time it`s also nice to see so many European players playing in America too. I`m also looking forward to seeing the likes of Graeme Mcdowell, Stephen Gallacher and Marcel Siem etc, and how they will continue to improve in Europe this coming season.
