hi, anybody know a site i can find what type of clubs the pros use?
i heard tiger hits a 5.5 degree driver; is that true?
anyway thanks for your time!!!
Tiger uses a 7.5 degree Nike. This site will only list those clubs used by tournament winners. I think there is an annual golf almanac that somebody publishes which lists all players clubs for each tournament. Don't know where to get copy, though.
The only problem with that information is that it is not exactly accurate. The manufacturer's list the "model #" that the TOUR player is using but in most cases, the manufacturers are creating multiple lines of clubs...TOUR Clubs, Public versions of the TOUR club, Game Improvement Clubs, and some even one lower line.
I would be interested in really knowing what the tour pros are playing. For instance, how are the lofts and lies bent? What about the shaft flex (tipped, etc...)? On the woods, how are the matched in terms of vibration?? What about the overall weight of each club and the swingweights??? To me, this type of information is more telling than the published information which simply identifies the make and model. I have a friend who works at Taylor Made and he was telling me all about Vijay's shaft on his driver. You won't find that shaft for sale in your pro shop!!!
MANY of the shafts on the PGA Tour are not available outside of Japan. Japan's golf market is about 2 years ahead of everyone else's in terms of technology in use, especially in shafts. They have some super ultralights that have 1/2 the weight of our best shafts.

In addition the stuff the pro's play with is NOT made in the good ol' U.S. Tiger's irons are forged in Japan. Why? The japanese are the best in the world when it comes to forging. They've been doing it for centuries. If you want something to drool over look to Japanese Spec equipment..it's a whole new world.

76Bearsfly... I don't think the OEM's would allow such a "survey" to be made public. The OEM's spend a bazillion $$$ on endorsements in an effort to entice we weekend hackers to purchase their equipment. We've seen Zingh win with Cleveland, so there are those who buy Cleveland 'cause they want to hit the ball just like Vijay. Likewise with most any touring pro. Up untill this year, Vijay had a Taylor Made driver under the Cleveland head cover. His irons are a model that are no longer offered by Cleveland. So, if the survey were to show what was REALLY in the bag, you would find you could not purchase what Singh is using from a Cleveland retailer. So, why pay the endorsement $$$? There are many pros who carry a bag with an OEM's name with very few clubs from that OEM. Tiger carried the Nike bag and drew big bucks from Nike for a couple of years before he was "forced" into actually putting the Nike equipment in his bag. Yes, I, too would like to see the specs. Those kind of things really interest me. But, I think you can see my point where it could be less than complimentary to the OEM's who endorse the players.

Wow, thanks a lot for that link! That's just awesome. I've never seen such beautiful clubs.
I don't quite understand who the members are, who are posting those pictures though. How were they "leaked" from the companies who make/release them? Are some of the members employees of OEMs?

I echo jc's sentiments that when a pro is listed as using a certain type of club, it isn't exactly the same club you can find in retail stores. Also, the specs aren't always as they seem. An example of this is driver loft. Players may specify they are playing a 9.5° driver but it is very well possible that the actual loft of the driver is different from what is stamped on there.
I think it goes without saying that the pros do not use equiment right of the rack. Anybody who thinks that is an idiot (sorry idiots). I once read where John Daly plays a 7.5* driver bent to 6.5*! That is just 2.5* higher than most putters. Even the average everyday golfer should be using equipment that has been fitted to their own specs.
I remember reading a story in a golf magazine several years ago about either Payne Stewart or Bernhard Langer and how they did not play one club from the manufacturer they endorsed. If a pro endorses the product, clubs will sell, regardless if they really play that club or not.
