league & uc8u you missed my point, as I said

"I can think of a number of guys who were never a big factor on the PGA who sort of found their game on the Seniors Tour or guys who stayed fairly competitive though their 40s and carried that success to the Seniors. But off the top of my head I can't think of anyone who reached the top on the PGA then fell so completely off the map, to re-surface with any significant success on the Seniors."

Your examples would fall under my 1st group in bold to which we could add Allen Doyle, Mike Hill, Jim Colbert, Chi Chi, Aoki, Bruce Fleisher,etc....I'm sure there are others. These are guys who's games really didn't peak until their 50's. The 2nd part in bold is what I'm looking for. I'm not trying to be a wise guy... I really can't think of anyone.

I hope the rolling eyes were sarcasm. Wasn't Nicklaus only four years removed from his sixth Masters win?

i'm from virignia (his state) and its widely known that he has an autisitc son that he abandoned with a first wife or girlfriend. completely shut out the kid from his life and refuses to mention him or see him.

what a coward.

Yes he was, but he was written off as "finished" prior to that Masters and didn't do much after.....until joining the Senior Tour. Wazmankg is correct in that Strange's decline was steeper and longer than most but that means little when a guy of Strange's caliber gets fired up to compete again.

I've gotta agree with league in that it makes sense to promote Curtis, simply because of the name recognition. It's not every day that a multiple major champ joins the Champion's Tour, so it stands to reason that when one does, he'd be a recognizable name and a fair draw out there.

I suppose so. I never really thought of him as much of a draw. He used to get ripped on the old board as allegedly being a jerk by a couple of regular posters who'd caddied and worked inside the ropes. Do you recall that Card ? I want to emphasize that I have no first hand knowledge and have no opinion of him in that regard myself. I expect him to have sort of a Ben Crenshaw type of career on the Champions tour, though.

Actually no, I can't really recall the posters that had mentioned that. I can see how Curtis could be a jerk though.

I remember it surprised me because I really had never had a negative impression of him. It was some sort of "who's the biggest jerk on tour" poll and he was mentioned by a few folks.. along with "rhymes with choke" and VJ.

So what will happen first ?

Curtis Strange breaks 70 on the Champions Tour or
they quit featuring him in their promos ?
