Vijay is very inconsistent so far. He's yet to put back to back rounds of 64-65 together. I can't even remember his last good round.

Yes! Go, Phil, indeed!!
Phil's last TOUR victory was The Masters, even though he put himself in contention many times last year. He needs to convert more of these opportunities if he's going to mount a challenge at the OWGR #1.
Last year, at this event, Phil was the leader at the halfway point, but finished tied 7th. Gotta come through, Phil!

Vijay finished yesterday at +1, but is -3 today, -2 overall. Phil leads now at -11. Great play so far for him.

Although I am happy to see Phil playing well, I gotta root for young Kevin Na! What a coup it would be to be the youngest PGA tour player and win a tournament.
Guess it's the grandma in me....like to see the young kids do well.

Na went down hill after the mis hit on 15. 16, 17, nor 18 helped at all.
As a Tiger fan, I do find enjoyment in watching lefty play this weekend. Great rounds yesterday and today and hopefully a winner tomorrow.

I don't know why I'm taking the trouble to answer you, manco82. Do you even watch the tournaments ?
65-66 to start the Mercedes
65 in round 4 to wrap up the Sony
and
66 today.
Hope that clears it up for you.

Actually I think that the Tiger-is-God fans are mostly adorable and probably good for the game in the long run, as long as they keep it moving or let me play through.

Let's see, Vijay has played 15 rounds so far, only 4 at 66 or better. THat' 4/15 excellent rounds. Not very good for so-called #1.

Just took a look at Phil's picture on ESPN Golf's front page. Phil has some biceps and forearm muscles all of a sudden! He's been working out!

He doesn't look that buff to me... in fact I think he looks out of shape. Either way he's playing great.

Tiger's played 8 rounds ... only 1 at 66 or better.. That's 1/8 excellent rounds.
Not very good for the so-called #2... this is really too easy ...
your turn manco82.

How about we stop taking turns and talk about what this thread is really about...Phil.
It's gonna take a stellar round to catch him tomorrow...I can't see it happening, no one's gonna shoot 62 tomorrow to be able to catch up.
