Phil wins #24

Congrats to Phil! I hope he wins #25 at Augusta and then he'll be the new KING of Golf.

Augusta is for two people: Woods or Els.

Phil still needs some ironing out on the long game but his short game was gold this week, let's hope he provides some good competition at the top.

I would like to see Ernie Els take number one position in the world. And along with that he should win all of the majors

But I dont really favour anyone too much... I must say I have some bitter feelings towards Vijay, but im uncertain as to why.

Ironic that you say Augusta is for Els and not Mickleson. Mickelson has had 3 third places finishes in Augusta in addition to his win.

It's shaping up to be a great season. All of the winners have been top-notch. Like last year, except that Tiger is in the mix too. I know that it doesn't count unless Tiger is in there, too.

Mickelson is in contention EVERY year at Augusta. Woods, Els, Singh and Mickelson would be the short money but someone else ALWAYS jumps into the mix. That is why The Masters is such a great tournament.

I think Phil is playing well but I think he needs to regain the driving accuracy he had at the beginning of 04 to defend at the masters.

Phil struggled with the driver yesterday but he does seem to be taming it overall - I imagine he is timing his run in to the Masters so that he is at his peak then.

Shaping up to be quite exciting this year, with all the big guns firing - expect some noise from Goosen soon. DL III has been disappearing without atrace though - has he lost the appetite?

Fortunately for Phil driving accuracy is not all that important at the Masters
with a few notable exceptions.

I think the players might disagree with that assessment. You can't control the spin and distance necessary to get the ball close to the hole on Augusta's treacherous greens if you're hitting from the marginally longer grass not considered fairway at Augusta National.

You're probably right, now that they finally allowed for some "rough" to grow there, it's more important than it used to be. Still I think compared to the average US Open or PGA layout, there's not as much of a premium on driving accuracy at Augusta or many of the British Open layouts.

I would have to agree with phil always "contends" at the Masters. Won it last year, and i hope many more to come....i just hate that even with TIget not in last weeks tourny they had to keep going back to him for some reason through-out the tournament. I HATE THAT !!!!! do not like him, never will...
