That's from his website but it's not his full schedule. Those are the events he's playing for sure, and then he picks and chooses which others to add in there. He'll play his typical 20 or so, which may not be enough for his fans or the networks but it's worked well for him so far. :nodsmiley Bay Hill, the Memorial, Western Open, etc, will all be there, don't worry in that regard.
Nicklaus did basically the same thing by the time he was in his late 20's. I don't think he played more than 20 tour events in any year after '69. I think the game is as strong at the top as at any time since Tiger joined the tour. This is not to say he isn't missed, but I don't feel cheated when he doesn't show up for one. Then again I'm not his biggest fan.
Quality not quantity, Id rather see him play like he does, When I see hes playing I look forward to watching him, If hes gonna be playing nearly every week miss a few here or there, The excitement would dissapear if he was playing rather bad. My opinion anyway.
Daydream for a minute, visualize yourself as TW...
-You get paid a TON of money by some very high level sponsors, and as a result, you appear in many ads, commercials, video games, which not only sells products, it helps to grow the sport of golf.
-You like to fish and scuba dive, and have the means to travel wherever you please
-You have an amazingly hot wife (let's leave it at that)
-You practice a lot, always trying to find a way to improve
-You schedule your season around the majors (as noted above)
-At every tournament you enter, there is a media crush. You are constantly under a microscope, and every swing, putt, smile and sneeze is dissected. Not only that, unlike a large majority of PGA Tour players, you are there to win, not just to compete and pick up a paycheck. This is no slight to other players, but lets be honest, very few EXPECT to win. They HOPE to win. With that kind of pressure, it seems as though you can get burned out if you are not selective with your tournament schedule.
I agree with Droogy... he plays just the right amount.
