If she qualifies they have to let her, unless they change their rules. BTW Cole, I know you were interested in Augusta membership and I read in this months Golf Digest the initiation fee is rumored to be in the low 5 figures plus a couple grand per year dues. It's getting the invite that is the killer.
I've seen posts saying that Vijay plays in every tournement and that's suppose to mean he's in it for the money. To me it seems someone playing in every tourny, big or small he's doing it because he loves it. Someone that only plays in the big tourny's and the majors would be more likely to be looked at in it for the money IMO
Forged, I think they don't care about the media, but I do think the PGA Tour is definitely heavily influenced by Tiger's influence on golf in general. I think that they would tell the Masters to either allow Tiger a chance at chairman or the Masters would no longer be a "major" and would no longer be part of the PGA Tour.
The Masters will be here long after Tiger's gone and will always be considered a major. This is a rather strange what-if though. Why would Tiger want such a position ?
HAS THIS THREAD BEEN JACKED BEYOND ALL RECOGNITION OR WHAT ?
You are sadly mistaken my young friend. Wittness what they did to their sponsers during the Martha Burke fiasco. They would fire the PGA in a heartbeat and still hold the tournament. They could care less if the PGA considered it a Major or not.
That's probably very true. So if these guys are so stubborn, what do y'all think their opinion is of Tiger winning not only 1,2,3 Masters but potentially breaking Jack's record of 6? I have a feeling that they have been grinding their teeth every time they congratulate Tiger in his 3 wins. It must irk them so much to see someone busting their little establishment (not just an establishment, a WACKO establishment ).

wazman, I think Tiger would want it only to break down the barrier of this idea of "Southern Gentleman" that is associated with the Masters and particularly the Chairman currently serving....Southern Gentleman in this case means racist, sexist good old boy redneck.

Be careful TTU, Augusta is Bobby's place. You don't want to anger the golf gods.

I hope your good ol' boy friends in Lubbock Texas don't see what you are posting in here. They might not take kindly to generalizations.
Forged, I gladly admit this town (Lubbock) is full of good old boy rednecks. And I don't approve of it ONE BIT! Every time one of my friends makes a stupid racist comment, I just correct them and remind them that they aren't following their supposed leader's example (Christ). I can't stand hypocrites, especially Christian hypocrites. I'm a Christian and I try my best to remind some of my bigoted friends that they aren't exactly living their lives the way Christ wants them to.
trance, I agree with you about that. I think the Phil in the press conference after losing to Tiger is the REAL Phil. He said that he was really angry about losing to Tiger. I think that's the real Phil, rather than the goofy fake smiling Phil that he presents to the public.

You need to know more about Hootie Johnson before spouting such garbage. What you think you know, or what you believe to be true, is far the truth. By all accounts, he's a stubborn and opinionated man, but before you call someone a racist you better have more than your opinion as proof.

TTUfirebird2008, you and I probably think the about same way regarding Augusta, their history and leadership. I joined the ESPN golf board around the time of the Marth Burke flap, sort of poking fun at Augusta and playing the "devils advocate" against the majority viewpoint there. Never again. I didn't consider the issue with the same "seriousity" deemed appropriate by the Augusta defenders there and was involved in a few raging flame-fests. It was fun for a while defending my manhood, patriotism and love of God & country until a couple of guys started sending me some rather vile emails at work. It isn't worth it. I like this board and the people on it too much and this will be the last I have to offer on the subject.
Okay, league. Let me revise that. He may not be a racist, but I really do doubt that he's very comfortable with blacks. And that's not necessarily his fault. He was probably raised that way, just like my great aunt and uncle (both are 90+ years old). They say the n-word all the time, but they don't mean it as a bad thing. It's just how they were raised. They typically don't mean any malice by it.
