Woods picks and chooses the easy fields and VJ busts his butt to let the fans see great golf. Which would you rather see? The rankings penalize playing a lot and reward slackers
Thank you, Droogy! Boy, am I tired of WGR explanations, especially since folks like this poster obviously don't care to read the very clear responses that people make.

Yeah right.....Tiger plays all the easy ones and he's a slacker.
The title of your thread (and previous posts) tells us you have more of a problem with Tiger than you do the rankings.
You have to ask "which would you rather see?" Where have you been since 1997?
The ranking system favors no one. It is a purely objective computative method of ranking golfers. Please Pebble, do us all a favor and go and study it's methods and criteria and come back and discuss it with us when you get a clue.

I root for him. I'm a fan. He's not my favorite, but I admire his skill, work ethic and candor. I think he'll be up there in the mix for a few more years yet. One of the things that rubs people the wrong way about him is what I admire. For instance, after his round Sunday I think it was Jimmy Roberts interviewing him asked how he approached his round with 10 guys ahead of him , being 6 back. He said something along the lines of - well, you have to look at who's ahead of you and see who's been there before and who's not likely hold up. He basically came out and said there were only a couple of people he was worried about. He's a straight shooter and confident. I missed the end though. Harrington was due. He's another that could break through for a major this year.
