Just get all of this out of the way before next weekend...we need pristine conditions at Augusta.
If the weather Saturday turns out badly, could this be an 18 hole event? I'm sure all the guys will want to get over to Augusta (those who are playing anyway), so I'm betting on many WDs here if some guys have bad first rounds.
so what do they do if the have a delay on saturday play through monday with 36 rounds each day?
Well, the weather looks clear tomorrow-Monday, so they'll likely be playing. I'm anxious to see how many players are going to withdraw from this tournament with the Masters next week. I think some of the players, most noteably Goosen, Mickelson and Cink, will want to be in Augusta monday morning rather than playing 36 holes at the Bell South Classic. But with the pope passing away today, I've kind of lost interest in watching golf today, anyway.

Phil says he'll play Monday since he had the day off anyway...he thinks the BellSouth should get more respect. Anyway, he has been slipping over there for practice, I believe. Luke Donald WD'd with a shoulder injury sustained at a local practice facility...dunno what that will do to him at Augusta.

Phil Mickelson had some trouble with a wayward driver at the Players Championship, but there's nothing wrong with his energy level.
As planned, Mickelson jetted from Jacksonville to Augusta Monday night, practiced at Augusta National for 9-10 hours on Tuesday, then flew to Atlanta Tuesday night in time for his 6:30 a.m. tee time Wednesday at the BellSouth Classic.
Done before lunchtime Wednesday, Mickelson even pondered returning to Augusta National for the afternoon.
Apparently, the Masters champion is genuinely serious about a matching green jacket for the one he proudly wore around Augusta National last Monday and Tuesday, when practicing before the Players Championship.
"The green speed was up," Mickelson said. "They're very fast and the fairways are starting to come down lower and lower, and it's in magnificent shape as always."
He was accompanied by short-game coach Dave Pelz, but not instructor Rick Smith, who hurt an ankle on a skiing trip a few weeks ago.
Mickelson still contends he might have withdrawn from the BellSouth had the Players Championship carried into Tuesday, largely because of the practice regimen he now uses for major championships.
"It's hard for me to get some of my practice rounds in when we have a lot of other guys playing," he said, "because it takes me seven, eight hours to get some of the stuff done, and it's not fair to everybody else to be holding them up."
With stormy weather a possibility today or Friday, Mickelson said that if the BellSouth were pushed into Monday, "It wouldn't bother me if it did. I think that this tournament should have the respect given to all of the others. . . . I'm scheduled to take Monday off anyway. It's not a big deal."
Oh wow....Jose Maria Olazabal missed a 4 or 5 foot putt to win. Now there's a 5 way playoff with Olazabal, Phil, Rich Beem, Brandt Jobe, and Arjun Atwal.....
