Duval wins MASTERS!!!

Do You Believe In Miracles?: Duval Wins Masters
an exclusive to Golf Rewind
by Johnny Trance

Augusta, GA- In perhaps the best turn around in major sports history David Duval captured the 69th Master's Tournament in dramatic fashion by outlasting Tiger Woods and Ernie Els in an epic 3 hole playoff. Besides the fact that Duval hasn't played well in two years and has made only one cut in his past 14 tournaments, its more amazing that he shot an 89 in round 1 but rebounded with a 59, 60, and 62 to take home his first green jacket.

"Amazing", said an emotional Duval. "Its hard to imagine me making the cut these days so to win here is very special."

After his first round 89 which included 4 double bogeys and one triple, Duval almost withdrew but a tip from Earl Woods changed everything.

"I went to say bye to Tiger on the range before I withdrew and Earl was there and he grabbed my arm and said 'Real men don't quit, they keep playing. I've noticed your grip looks weak. Try pointing your V's more towards your back shoulder'. Tiger gave me a look like he was sorry but I decided he was right and went to hit balls and I felt like the old me."

Its no wonder that afer slamming home a birdie on the 3rd extra hole of a playoff with Tiger and Ernie that Duval sought out Earl and gave him a big hug much like Tiger did in 1997. Both were very emotional.

"I'm still in shock" said Tiger. "If this isn't the sports story of the decade then I don't know what is. I brought my A game, Ernie brought His, and David found his w/ my Dad's help."

Tiger surely isn't the only one shocked. No one could have predicted this and Its the thing that seemingly only happens in Hollywood. It was hard to find a dry eye in the gallery as Duval slipped on the Jacket and then broke down in tears.

Great story johnny. If Duval were near the lead this Sunday you can bet that he'd have more fan support than one person could probably bear. But thanks for the chuckle.

Looking at some of the latest odds on a website I googled, David is anywhere from 500/1 to 1000/1.
