Rick Reilly was on the Dan Patrick show today on ESPN Radio and he was saying that theres no way he (7 handicap) could have broken 100 given the course conditions and the greens. He was saying he doubted that many amatuers could have broken 100, even the single digit guys.
Watching those guys on the greens I think I'd be happy to get around there in under 50 putts. Add another 50 to get on the greens... that's less than 3 per hole & with a handful of 4s playing as 5s for me, I'd be thrilled with 100 there.
Broke the record for most shots ever on a hole at Augusta.
Highest round is a 93 and he is on his way to break that record.
Looks like it is time for him to quit like Nicklaus did. I hear Gary is quitting next season (and not a moment too soon). Charles Coody, Tommy Aaron, and Fuzzy Zoeller should also do the honorable thing and play no more. I would rather see the NCAA champion in the Masters than Coody or Aaron or Zoeller.
