Old Course, St. Andrew's

Hello,

Just saw this on ebay...

link removed

Trip for 2 at the Old Course, St. Andrew's! Has anyone else played here, I've only ever played the New at St. Andrew's which was amazing, guess this is my chance to play the Old!

The Old Course is a dream to play. I went round in 1994 and can still remember every moment. Played with some lovely Americans, which made it all the more memorable. The drinks and joke session afterwards were just as much fun. Have a great round!

Not the seller, to be honest I didn't even think you could book times on the Old Course, I had some friends who did it via the Ballot, I thought other than that or playing in the Links Trophy it was the only way to get on the course...

I do believe that if you stay in the "Old Course Hotel" you get tee times on the Old Course.
I played last year and we were awarded our start times after requesting ONE a year earlier.

I stayed in Rusacks Hotel, alongside the 18th. They arranged for me to play The Old Course.

Re: Old Course, St. Andrew's

I have played it 3 times. Our tee times were booked a year in advance. We stayed at the
Rusacks Hotel (on ther 18th fairway),. It was great. The course itself was not the
best course we played in Scotland. It would really rank towards the bottom. The history
makes it great but most of the other courses we played were in better shape than
The Old Course. I Really liked the New Course better that the Old Course. You need to
play the Old Course for the #1 teeshot, the 17th and 18th holes. The other holes are
just OK

Prefered the new and jubilee courses to be honest. The St andrews bay resort is pretty good 2 challenging courses in the torrance and the devlin, well worth a visit, the 17th on the torrance is a great hole challenging and fantastic styling.

The old course is not a fantastic course. It is the atmosphere which makes it spectacular.

Agreed, re the Bay courses - Play the Devlin 7 or 8 times a year and it is a real challenge

Actually in the St Andrews area, the New Course and Kingsbarn are by far the
best 2 courses...Played the Devlin course, to me it was ok, some really
beautiful holes but did not leave that great golf course feeling in me.

Re: Old Course, St. Andrew's

You only need to play 3 holes on the old course.
1. The 1st for that tee shot.
2. The 17th for the whole experience of that hole.
3. The 18th for the drive, crossing the swilken burn, missing the valley of sin and that fantastic view as you walk towards the clubhouse thinking of the legends who have experienced all this before you.
