Ping Tour Wedge Review

I am thinking of getting some new wedges, anyone out there have any experience with Ping Tour wedges? Also, what are the pros and cons of a set comprised of a 52 and 56 degree verses a 54 and 58 degree? Thanks in advance

I haven't tried those wedges.. but I heard some real good reviews on them by golf digest magazine. I ordered 50, 54, 58. My pitching wedge is 46, so I'm getting increments of 4 degrees from PW. I've also read that unless you're a real low handicapper, it's better to go with 54, 58.

Re: Ping Tour Wedge Review

Well ive had the tour wedges for a while now and im very happy with them. i got the 52, 56, 60. I rarely hit the 56 or 60 unless the shot calls for it. Im in love with these wedges. They dont spin as much as a vokey but the distance, feel, and playability is awesome. Hitting shots from a tight lie, rough, sand, or any lie is done with ease. I do not regret getting these wedges.

I've got the 52, 56, & 60 black nickel wedges. I love these wedges. Great feel and distance.

Re: Ping Tour Wedge Review

I bought a 56° Ping Tour W wedge a couple of weeks ago. I hit it a few times at the range and felt good and looked good. It seemed to fly a little higher than my Vokey but didn't pay a lot of attention to it.

Three days later I used it in it's first round. I had two requirements for a shot around 80 to 90 yards. I came up about 25 to 30 yards short on both shots. Returning it to the Pro Shop and complaining of it being "too short", they said that I was probably just not used to it yet, but that I could take it to their repair shop and have it checked to confirm the loft.

Well, I did and on the loft gauge it was actually 59°. The Pro Shop checked another 56° in their inventory and it was between 58° and 59°. They gave me my money back and returned the club to Ping for an evaluation . . . so much for quality control.

Needless to say my Vokey went back in the bag.

Very odd. Ping is usually one of the better OEM's at QC.
