Great wedge, only which they made the SM in 52* to be used as a gap wedge. The lowest they go is 54*.
Do you guys think the 2* difference will produce a noticable difference?
For me, the 2 degrees makes about a 7 yard difference. Think about the yardages that your various wedges play to and then you can decide if it makes difference.
Say you have a 60 that goes 70 yds, a 56* that goes 85 yds and a PW that goes 115 yds. You might want a gap wedge that goes 100 yds. That's probably going to be a 52*.
If you want to keep it to 3 wedges, you could play a 60, a 54 and a PW. Lot's of options. I actually play a 58, 54, and PW (which is 49 degrees). That's when I play my blades. If I play my Titleist 695.CBs the PW is 47* so then I carry a 60, 54 and 50 Vokey (the 60 and 54 are spin milled). Tons of backspin and lots of scuff marks on soft cover balls.
I have played my Volkey Oil Cans (52,56,60) for a little over a year now and love them to death. It scares me to think you are talking soo much better about the spin milled. I have never hit the spin milled but my bro just bought one so I may have to give it a try.
Bought the 56 degree wedge, so far its pretty helpful in the 80yds and in. i have to get used to hitting it a little harder around the green and over bunkers, since i've been using a standard pitching wedge. So far A+ for the Titleist
I had the 60 for awhile and loved it, only trouble is when you really attack the ball. Its great a 5th of the ball off :P
Just order a GW, gone for 50 to try get 100 yards. My PW is 130 at 48 and SW 52 gets me 70-80. Got to play a few round with it first, might have to get it tweaked 1 or 2*.
But i kept with the Spin milled and oil can finish. Gets my thumbs up, shame i have to wait till June 1st to get my 50*
I love the 54/10 and can hit it from any lie. It is great for chipping and pitching, and it will stop. I just traded my 60/4 for a 60/8 because I need a little more bounce for our mushy fairways. I hit some great bunker shots with the 60, so good that I almost hope I am in the bunker so I can hit another great shot!
