I believe you man. I'm sure they are very nice clubs. My beef is the price of the Ortiz/Pelz wedges. Unless it is sprinkled with magic gold dust, no wedge on earth should ever cost that much. I gulped hard when I layed out $79 for my Gap Wedge.. and that was $40 off the regular price, an amount I never would have paid... and I'm not a cheapskate either.

And since they've been out just a short time, Ortiz's hybrid is no doubt a copy of either the Louisville Golf Niblick, NEW! NIBLICK : Louisville Golf <-- new, meaning they went back to whipped hosel (which has been out since 1974) or the Adams Original Tight Lies (cannot find a profile photo). It's not a new design... just a rehash of others' design.

Re: Bobby Jones Pelz Wedge Collection

I guess 150.00 is alot to spend for a wedge but if you wait a year or so it will be around 99.00 or go check on ebay. Bobby jones clubs I think are great clubs I have a 19 degree bobby jones and just love it easy to hit I get good shots out of it about 80% of the time. If you want a great wedge for around 99.00 try the F2 wedge 52,56,60 degree I love the club.

Re: Bobby Jones Pelz Wedge Collection

Hmmmmm, I just think that $150 for one wedge is silly when there are plenty of good clubs for one third the price: myOstrich Golf Clubmakers

You can get three Bang wedges for less than the cost of one of these $150 ones. Most of the other component wedges aren't all that more expensive, either. I think that you have to be pretty skilled to truly get the benefit of these much more expensive wedges.

Re: Bobby Jones Pelz Wedge Collection

I still don't believe that we're going to know whether these clubs live up to their name, price, supposed technological advances with the machined face, until someone uses them for rounds and rounds of golf and compares them to their vokeys or 588's that they've had for awhile.

I think the whole point to the price is the lifetime that these clubs are supposed to have. If they really outlast their competition, they could be worth it in the long run. At least for the guys that play a crapload!
