Golf in Phoenix

Hi Folks,

I'm going to be in Phoenix the last week in January and I am wondering where you might recommend that I play.

Thanks!

I am going in two weeks. We need to play kinda near the airport so we chose.
Legacy Resort on day of arrival
Gold Canyon - Dinosaur Mountain
Raven at South Mountain.

I also have played Talking Stick and Whirlwind both excellent. Search around and you will find a bunch of great places.
Here is a great link:

in Scottsdale:

Troon North / both Pinnacle and Monument are first rate
Legend Trail / front side ordinary backside well designed by Rees Jones
Boulders South in Care Free
Grayhawk, very good service profile excellent

Phoenix:
Raven at South Mountain / very good layout. not a typical desert course, more parkland designed by Gary Panks
Legacy / almost next door to Raven.

WeKopa / at Fort Mcdowell in Fountain Hills. Good layout well conditioned

Eagle Mountain in Fountain Hills / good architecure user friendly and fun to play

125 courses in around Scottsdale.

suggest you google Scottsdale Golf and look for the Scottsdale Golf guide pdf. It has listings, descriptions, and click thru web addresses.

Hope this helps.

Weather cooling off. Prob won't hit 80* + for next week.

I was able to walk on at Antelope Hills in Prescott when I was in AZ this year. I found the course fun and pretty easy to play.

In the end of January, Legacy will be in prime shape. It's a resort style course (snow birds), plush greens that are tight and roll true, and fairways are wide open. Some cool history is pointed out since it was the ranch homestead of one of PHX's biggest land barrons (Heard I think his name was). Green fee's +/- $100.
