Re: Vegas, baby!
Here's some practical advice...
Paiute is way north and good resort courses, but I would not say it is worth the drive time compared to good courses closer to the strip.
Dragon Ridge is good. Siena, Tuscany and Bear's Best are all near each other if you want to play 36. I like Las Vegas National from a value standpoint, you can take a cab there. I also like Rhodes Ranch which was not far away and had real nice Par 3's.
Henderson has Revere, but the drive is a bit much, if you are looking to maximize time.
Here's some to avoid, in my opinion.
I think Reflection Bay was nice near the end of the round and there is a Weiskopf course there now, but it is a good drive to Lake Las Vegas. I thought the TPC was way overpriced and not worth it, in general. I have never heard anyone rave about Bali Hai (in fact the opposite). I played Royal Links, but it really did not feel or play like British Open holes. You had to pay a bunch for caddies, so I viewed the course as expensive and trying to squeeze everything out of me.
