Phoenix Golf Courses

Hello all,

I am traveling to Phoenix next week and have a window on Monday afternoon to play golf. I am currently booked at Vistal Golf Club by South Mountain but am leary because their twilight rate starts earlier and is so much lower then the rest of the courses. The layout looks good and they claim to have held the qualifier for the Phoenix Open.

Can anyone provide feedback on this course or suggest another in that area that is a reasonable value, I would like to keep it around $100 bucks if possible.

Thanks!

Vistal is in not so good of shape right now. If you are looking to play around south mountain, check out: The Raven, The Legacy, or The Phantom Horse. Both are three great courses and they are within 5 miles or less of eachother. Let me know if you need any other help

Thanks AVS! that is what I was afraid of.

I will check out the others, do you know anything about Dobson Ranch or Kokopelli out in Mesa? Also, is the Karsten Course at ASU in good condition?

Appreciate the help.

Dobson ranch is Mesa's best public golf course. The rates tend to be real cheap (usually under $50 with a cart in primetime) and since it is real popular it tends to be real busy.

I haven't played Kokopelli but have heard it is real nice and challenging too. Also, the fairways have a lot of contour to them (links style almost), the greens tend to be fast and tuff, some water too (believe there are close to 7 lakes) and some great views too.

The Karsten course is fun to play. Last time I played it, it was in awesome shape. Plays fairly easy though (least I thought). Definately a good course though.

If you have any other question let me know. All the courses you've mentioned are great choices.

Thanks, looks like Karsten is the deal, can't get out at Kokopelli until 1:30 and that is too late, plus my colleague is a college sports freak, so he will get a kick out of the atmosphere.

Thanks again for your help!

No problem, happy to help. Karsten is a good choice, you should enjoy it. Let me know how you liked it and how it went after you played it.

Good luck to you, I'll be playing somwhere monday as well, just found out i don't have to work. I live by San Marcos, but the rates are a little high right now, Dobson ranch is a great public course, also another Mesa public one that is under rated due to it only being 9 holes is Riverview golf course. Great hole #9. Karsten ASU is a good course too, be careful of a couple holes where there are blind shots on your second shot. let us know how it goes.

I know you said you only have an afternoon, but if you can possibly get a whole day free, The Raven at Verrado (bit of a drive from Phoenix) has a great deal. Unlimed golf for the day, 2 complete meals (and it's great food) unlimiteed water, fountain drinks, 2 snacks and 2 drinks on course, all inlcluded in the greens fees.
I belive I paid $160 for this when last I was in AZ, had a breakfast buffet, played 18, had lunch, played 18, played front 9 again. Usually when I have to travel to Phoenix I go a day early or stay a day later and play golf from sunrise to sunset!
