I would avoid Desert Rose only play it as a last resort. Condos right up against the fairways. The course was in poor condition and the layout wasn't that great.

Golf is very expensive in Vegas. They really sock it to the out of towners. If you want to play in town try to get a twilight rate, but even that will cost you $70-$100. The best deal I've found in the Vegas area is Rhodes Ranch. Nice course thats in great shape. It is in the SW corner of town.
If you have a car and the time I would recommend the Boulder City Muni. They have two courses. The newer one is fairly expensive. The older one will probably cost around $40-$50 with cart, less if you walk. It is right in Boulder City which is about a 40 min. drive from the strip.
Hope this helps.

I just played at Rhodes Ranch a couple weeks ago and would highly recommend it to someone that wants to play a good course and not spend that much. The course was in great shape when I played. Also I recommend playing it from the back tees it just seemed to play better from the back ones. Played the day before up a notch and seems to put you in some bad places on the course. It makes the par 3's interesting too ;)

I will also give Rhodes Ranch a . You might want to try Angel Park, there are two courses there and they have a cool putting green. I think they were about $70 too. Golf in Vegas is always high on my list of vacations. Wife spends the afternoon in the Spa, I golf, dinner, shows, giving away the kids college fun. It's all good.
