From Golf Rewind Wiki
The Golf Channel, or TGC, is a 24 hour a day golf cable network. It was launched on January 17, 1995 and is owned by Comcast. Joseph E. Gibbs came up with the concept for TGC and secured $80 million in funding with legendary golfer Arnold Palmer to launch the Golf Channel. The first live tournament televised by TGC was the Dubai Desert Classic, from January 19 to 22 in 1995.
In January of 2006, the PGA Tour announced that the Golf Channel would become the exclusive cable television home for 48 PGA Tour events starting in 2007. The Golf Channel would provide early round coverage for 33 events and full four round coverage for 15 events. (Golf Channel Goes Big Time thread)
